The World Taekwondo Championship held in Mexico is entering its last two days, and to our delight tonight (between Thursday and Friday) the Israeli delegation recorded an impressive achievement when Dana Azran secured a medal.
Azran, who competes at a weight of 73 kg and above, has secured her advancement to the semifinals of the competition and the meaning is that she will get on the podium and return to Israel with a medal – during the coming night we will find out whether she will win the competition or whether she will settle for a silver or bronze medal.
Azran began her journey at the World Championship in Guadalajara in the preliminary stage against an opponent from the Ivory Coast, whom she defeated 1:2 in sets. In the round of 16, she went up against the French ranked 5th in the world and surprised with an important and impressive victory, on the way to the prestigious quarterfinals where she defeated the Mexican Garcia, ranked 4th in the world.
