Even in Israel the trend is present and clear. Only recently, the Chinese company Chery entered our market, with three recreational vehicles:

  • Chery Tiggo 8 Pro – Tigo 8 It is a recreational vehicle with seven seats. It is expected to be a great success, thanks to the high demand for vehicles of this type.
  • Chery Tiggo 7 Pro – a compact recreational vehicle for five passengers.
  • Cherry FX – the smallest model, which is sold worldwide under the name ‘Omoda 5’.

All the vehicles are gasoline-powered, and they come with the same engine: a 1.6-liter volume with 186 hp. Carso Motors is the company that imports them, and they are currently available at five points of sale throughout the country. In 2023, electric Chery vehicles are also expected to arrive here.

What is the current situation of Chery, and other Chinese companies? Let’s look at the data.

China’s position is strengthening

In September 2022, China exported 301,000 vehicles, an increase of 73.9% compared to the same month last year, according to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (COMMON). In the first three quarters of 2022, China exported a total of 2.117 million vehicles.

This means that China not only breaks its own records, but manages to overtake Germany in terms of export volume. In 2021, it exported 180,000 units more than Germany, rising to second place in this index, with Japan in first place.

For a long time, Japan and Germany were the world’s largest car exporters. Japan thrives mainly thanks to imports from the United States, which make up more than 30% of the total exports of the Land of the Rising Sun. At the same time, the European market has a very large dominance of German vehicles.

The aim of the Chinese manufacturers is to fight in the leading countries, and they intend to start first in Europe. In the first eight months of this year, Chinese car companies exported 193,000 vehicles to Europe, and they aim to enter more European countries this year and in the coming years.

Big ambitions for the future

Among other things, some of the companies aim to be deployed in the EU countries by the end of 2025, and for this purpose they are building hundreds of electric vehicle charging stations across the continent.

At the Paris Motor Show in 2022, Chinese automakers such as Great Wall Motors , BYD and- Leap motorand showcased their new vehicles.

Today, Chinese companies export a great many vehicles, but mainly to countries with relatively weak economies. In the next step, they want to enter the main markets. These are the top ten countries in terms of importing vehicles from China: the United States, Mexico, Japan, Belgium, Great Britain, Russia, Germany, South Korea, Australia and Saudi Arabia.

The cumulative export value to these countries is $46.07 billion – 46% of China’s total automotive exports.

Is Chery a leading company in China?

In 2021, when the Chery company celebrated 20 years of exporting vehicles abroad, it was the top exporter of vehicles in China. This year, in the first three quarters, it stands in second place. Above it is SAICwhich accounts for 24% of China’s total vehicle exports with more than 500,000 vehicles.

Chery’s overseas sales accounted for 37% of China’s total vehicle exports in the first nine months of 2022. In addition toTiggo 7, seven models Chery Additional, incl Tiggo 5X, Tiggo 3X, Tiggo 9, andJetour X70 were in the top 20.

The growth rate of Geely In overseas markets it was faster than Chery in the first three quarters, with cumulative exports of 142,000 vehicles, an increase of 89.9% compared to the same period last year.
