It is no secret that the consumer electronics market which includes many products including mobile devices is in decline. Phone sales are slow and the market is performing poorly. Of course, this goes beyond the phone scene. It includes the whole segment of consumer electronics. There are many factors that justify this decline. According to Qualcomm’s senior vice president, the slow growth of most electronics markets is mainly due to inflation. Of course, the clip also suffers from other factors such as inventory build-up. According to him, the market will not see a recovery until the second half of 2023. That is, at least, we cannot ignore the worst.

It is also reported that Qualcomm needs to change into an Internet company. Needs to enhance other abilities. The company wants to expand its presence in areas including computers, virtual reality and autonomous driving. The goal is to make these areas a priority for its focus. At the moment, the company gets the bulk of the revenue from sales of Snapdragon chips. This includes mobile SoCs and Snapdragon modems that have been sold to many OEMs. With the decline in this segment, the company will also suffer.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will lead the flagship market next year

Earlier this week, Qualcomm held its annual conference. The event revealed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with several upgrades. It does not program a 3nm process but uses an improved 4nm architecture. The company promises to set a new standard for the mobile experience. The new CPU supports ray tracing and provides support for Wi-Fi 7. The first phones with SD 8 Gen 2 will appear in December. Also, there is an exclusive version of the SD 8 Gen 2 that comes with the Galaxy S23 series, but the exact details are unclear.

Away from the phone scene, Qualcomm is also ramping up efforts in the ARM-based PC segment. The company continues to invest in the SD 8cx series to offer an alternative to the Apple M1. Moreover, this year we saw the arrival of the first handheld console with SD 8gx – a game processor.
