Supporting children facing cancer: Dozens participated in the Galilee Marathon

by time news

55 runners, employees of five different companies, participated on Tuesday in the Galilee Half Marathon for an exciting and extraordinary cause – supporting the hundreds of children of the Sunrise Israel Association, who are dealing with cancer and participate free of charge in the association’s bilingual camps. The Galilee half-marathon event took place this year for the sixth time, and is the fruit of the initiative of the Eshkol authorities, which brings together 18 local authorities from the Western Galilee.

The Sunrise association, which donated 55 runners to the race, initiates social, empowerment and leisure activities alongside high-quality camps that are accessible free of charge to all those children with their brothers and sisters. This is with the aim of creating childhood experiences for them in the challenging reality and motivation to beat the disease. Among the companies that participated in the race were the teams of Philips, XT Holdings, ZEISS, Spiral Solutions and Flex. The participation in the race was in a social model where it is possible to want and runners to experience a sports training activity and also to support the continued existence of the association’s activities.

The CEO of the Sunrise Israel Association Mirit Frankel said: “We welcome the participation of the runners and runners in the marathon. Thanks to the exciting mobilization of the employers and the teams, we will be able to hold more activities and camps both throughout the year and during the spring and summer vacations. The mobilization of the company’s employees is extraordinary and brings about a fundamental change in our society, the same change that brings a smile to the faces of hundreds of children.” Every year, Sunrise initiates and promotes bilingual camps that are accessible to about a thousand children with cancer with their brothers and sisters, along with prenatal, social and formation activities in the hospital wards .
