The Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) will subsidize five projects in the regions of Girona to promote unique and innovative projects that promote the technological maturity of the electric vehicle and fuel cell and, thus, facilitate its commercialization. Among the five selected projects, they will mobilize around 9 million euros and are expected to generate more than 200 direct jobs. The Ministry has included the Girona projects in the first call for the MOVES Singulars II Program, endowed with 100 million euros from the funds of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR).

Among the Girona initiatives, two projects of the fig tree Riejuwhich will allow to expand the range of Rieju products, with a new non-existent electric model and to modernize the production structure.

One of the ideas consists of the development from the design of a new Electric Powertrain to transform the MRT model that currently exists into a new electric vehicle. In addition, aid has been received for the design and development of a new model of electric vehicle E-city in two powers, one of 1.2 kW and another of 3 KW. The sum of the two projects receives aid of nearly 1.3 million euros and will generate more than 90 direct jobs.

They have also received the support of the ministry two Arbúcies bus companies. On the one hand, a grouping of Beulas with QEV Technologies for the design of a 12-meter electric coach prototype for interurban use for routes of 280 kilometers per day, capable of carrying seated passengers. On the other hand, Still bus he also proposes the design and development of an electric vehicle that will consist of a 12m hybrid rolling chassis, which will be propelled by a hydrogen cell and a battery for an interurban bus weighing 19 tons and with an approximate autonomy of 600 km.

A traction system for bikes

A last project corresponds to the Navata company, Niche Mobility. Its first product will be sold to bicycle manufacturers. Niche will provide the complete traction system to be installed on urban bicycles, improving the user experience, facilitating the adoption of the light vehicle for daily mobility. The system eliminates the need to change gears and allows regenerative braking. This project foresees an investment of 658,000 euros and will generate 18 jobs directly.
