Ahmed Abu Alam, the strongest man in Umm al-Fahm is furious and this morning he announced the suspension of the team’s training due to the saga of the non-progress of the completion of the works at the renovated “HaShalom” stadium. In the last few days, the municipality of Acre issued a warning letter about one unpaid match.

In a poignant monologue to ONE, Abu Allam Speaking: “I visited the new stadium and there are too many problems with the contractor and the workers. If the heads of the pyramid and the municipality behave unprofessionally, then maybe we don’t deserve a group. They are trying to sabotage the process of building the team, which won’t win a league. I warned the mayor a year and a half ago that not opening the stadium was a purely political act. Don’t want football in the city? I will help them. I’m considering even losing the game against Maccabi technically. If they want to crush the team, I will help them.’

“I am suspending all the team’s training until further notice and considering the continuation of the team’s path and how it will be conducted. It doesn’t reach the audience and the club and I almost have tears in my eyes. Wasim and my partners cannot continue to have such a team without a home field and without the municipality’s commitment. The municipality said that if the field is not delivered on November 14, the municipality will pay for the alternative stadiums. Someone has to pay the damages,” he noted.

He added: “We built such a team with such sums of money with the promise that we would play in the stadium. I understand that the engineering department at the municipality went bankrupt a long time ago, but to get to the point where there are no firefighting plans to approve the lot? I will contact the sports ministry or the conciliation plant. It has never happened in the history of the country that it takes four years to build a stadium at a cost of NIS 25 million. There should be a commission of inquiry into what is happening in the stadium.’

“I tell you with responsibility: with this method there won’t be a stadium next year either! There is a stadium here to play football and little things remain. They managed this procedure in a colossal failure, the Minister of Sports should intervene. “What happens in the Peace Stadium only happens in the third world,” he concluded.
