We all want to watch the World Cup games, and sometimes, what to do, reality gets in the way. MK Nir Barkat (Likud) encountered this problem today, when he wanted to watch England’s game against Iran during the speeches in the plenary. That’s why he found a solution – he watched the game on his mobile device.

As I remember, the game ended with a resounding 6-2 score for the English, who did not give the poor Iranians a chance. At the beginning of the game, the players of the Iranian national team refused to sing the national anthem, as a protest against the compulsory wearing of the hijab in the country.

About 10 minutes after the opening whistle, another unusual incident occurred, when Iran’s goalkeeper Alireza Birnwand was injured and needed medical treatment, and in the end he left the field and was replaced by goalkeeper Hossein Hosseini. Following the injury, the game was stopped for an extended period of time – and this led to an extra 14 minutes of extra time at the end of the first half.

The English’s first goal came in the 34th minute, when Luke Shaw hit the ball into the Iranians’ net. In the 43rd minute, England scored another goal, and 3 minutes later Raheem Sterling scored and brought the English to halftime with a 3:0 lead.

The second half started slowly, but in the 62nd minute England scored another goal and went up 4:0. The English continued to press, but Iran managed to score in the 65th minute and reduce the score to 4-1. Despite the attempt to score again, in the 71st minute England already scored another goal – and with 2 minutes to go they increased the advantage to 6:1.

Also at the end of the second half, it was decided on an extra time of 10 minutes – and just before the end, the Iranians received a penalty after the VAR determined that one of the players had been pushed in the box. After about 3 more minutes, Iran reduced the score to 6:2.
