Canberra: 11 children were injured in an explosion caused by a mistake during a science experiment in the classroom. The incident took place at Manly West Public School in Sydney, Australia yesterday at around 7.30 am Indian time. Two children suffered deep burns. It is reported that an experiment between sodium bicarbonate and methylated spirit resulted in the accident. Systems including helicopters and fire engines were part of the rescue operation at the school. It is said that strong winds during the application of chemicals led to the accident. All the victims are children aged 10-11. A teacher was slightly injured.
