Medellin: Eight killed in plane crash in Colombia The incident took place in Medellin. The twin-engine Piper PA-31 was en route to the western department of Choco when it crashed.
The plane crashed after taking off from Olaya Herrera Airport. Six passengers and two crew members were killed. The exact cause of the accident has not yet been determined. Medellin Mayor Daniel Quintero said in a statement that the plane suffered an engine failure during takeoff. “Unfortunately, the pilot was unable to control the plane,” Quintero said.
