Quentin Tarantino attacks the “Marvelization” of Hollywood

by time news

Tarantino vs. Marvel: The director, who is considered one of the greatest filmmakers in the history of Hollywood, came out against the “Marvel” film franchise, which in recent years has provided dozens of action films starring superheroes.

In the director’s last interview on the “2 Bears, One Cave” podcast, Tarantino talked about the “loss of movie stars” and claimed that there is a “Marvel-zation of Hollywood”, in which the actors are no longer important, but the characters they play.

“Part of the Marvelization of Hollywood is that you have all these famous actors playing these characters,” Tarantino said. “But they’re not movie stars. Right? Captain America is the star. Or Thor is the star. I mean, I’m not the first person to say that. I think it’s been said a million times… but it’s like, you know, these are the franchise characters The goddesses who become stars.”

Tarantino also made it clear in the interview that he doesn’t “hate” Marvel movies but doesn’t like them because they’re the only product Hollywood is interested in making these days. “Look, I used to collect Marvel comics like crazy when I was a kid,” Tarantino said. “If these movies had come out when I was in my twenties, I would have been perfectly happy and very much in love with them. I mean, if they weren’t the only movies made. If these movies were among the others. But, I’m almost 60, so yeah. No, I’m not So excited about them.”

“My only complaint against them is that his seems to be the only films being made,” he added. “And they’re the only movies that seem to create any kind of excitement among a fan base or even for the studio that makes them. That’s what they’re excited about. So it’s just the fact that they’re the entire representation of this era of movies right now. There’s really no room for anything else. That’s my problem.”
