In a post published by the Academy of Languages, a Hebrew alternative to the word – cigarette was proposed, the origin of the word cigarette is borrowed from the French word cigarette, which is also derived from the word cigar (cigar), so it is not a traditional Hebrew word anyway, the academy says that many people contact them asking to replace the word cigarette with Cancerous’. According to them, everyone already knows that a cigarette causes cancer, and if we start calling it ‘cancerous’ it will be even more difficult for people to smoke a cigarette.
