CHENNAI: There has been a complaint that the facility to apply for automatic transfer of lease on the basis of deed registration has been disabled.
After completion of deed registration, house and land buyers in Tamil Nadu have to apply separately for name change in Patta. The Revenue and Land Survey Department took some measures in 2019 due to public agitation.
According to this, if a property belonging to a particular survey number or sub-division is already registered in one’s name, a deed transfer scheme is created.
This procedure is an easy way out for properties that do not require a new subdivision. If the application is registered at the sub-registrar level, the relevant SMS will be sent to the mobile phone of the property buyer.
Only on the basis of the application number mentioned in it, the transfer files can be found. Complaints have been raised that registration of applications has been affected in this process.

Sub-registrars charge appropriate proof of identity for automatic transfer of title at the time of property sale deed registration. Based on this, the identification information for the application registration has been stopped for a few months.
