Amazon is not simply laying off Indian employees, but it’s also offering a range of perks called VSP.
Following Twitter and Facebook, the world’s leading online retailer Amazon is also preparing to lay off 10,000 employees in an unprecedented manner. Amazon has said that the layoffs are being done to reduce costs. While Amazon has said that this retrenchment has started, the company has also started its layoffs in India.
Amazon, however, is not simply firing Indian employees, but is moving them out with a program called the Voluntary Separation Program (VSP), which includes various benefits. Under this scheme employees are given the opportunity to resign voluntarily. Through the VSP scheme, employees have to submit an application and announce their resignation by 6.30 am on November 30. Also some important benefits are given to those opting for VSP scheme.
Those opting for the VSP scheme are entitled to 22 weeks of basic pay and one week of basic pay for every 6 months of service. Also 6 months medical insurance or equivalent will be provided. Next, the notice period or salary will be given based on the employment contract, according to Amazon India.
