Since then she has progressed in the world of music and was in the writing team of the hit “Who is it” by Anna Zak and wrote “Shlvata”, the debut single of Inbal Raz that exploded on Tiktok.

Margalit’s next project is a solo career. This week she released a new song, ”My sister no longer tolerates you”, written by Yuval Maayan, with a particularly kicking text and a unique music video.

Let’s start, of course, with “who is it”. Margalit was looking for a song that would be danced at weddings and would be a huge hit. She wrote the song together with Or Ben Baruch, Yuval Maayan and Ron Biton.

”Obviously I thought it would be a hit,” she says. ”As a girl I would have plowed through this style, which is refreshing, such a fan that throws you back and is different. When I wrote this song I imagined it being played everywhere, even at a wedding, because it’s a song that has a section. By the way, the brilliance to put Anna’s phone in the song was from Ron Beaton who joined in writing the song. Now this number is helping to save lives. Because he moved to the ‘Otot’ association, which is an association that provides a warm home to anyone in need.”

“A guy I know from the field contacted me, and asked for Anna’s number for an association that wants the phone and is looking for a catchy number, because after the song was successful, everyone recited this number. I immediately turned to Anna’s manager Omri and explained to him the importance of it, and it immediately came to fruition.”

How did you come to write for Inbal Raz as well?

“We’ve been friends since childhood. We’re both netizens. I help her with the music and she helps me with things on Tiktok, which she’s a champion at. When she approached me, we talked about wanting a song that would suit her well and I wrote the song with her, but then my partner Yam Rafaeli entered the room and joined the writing.”

In her new single, she returns to collaborate with Yuval Maayan with a special text and a clip in which Margalit is exposed enjoying a particularly cool nightlife. “It’s a song that is perceived as humorous at first hearing, but if you pay attention to the text, you realize that it talks about a bad relationship between spouses.”

How did the idea for the song come about?

“A few years ago I went through a very difficult breakup. I sat in the car, cried my life out and looked for a song that I could scream out loud with. I went through all kinds of songs by Israeli female singers, but I didn’t find anything specific that matched how I felt, because I wanted a song by all of you, a song by I hate you and you will go to hell and it will hurt you too. I decided that if they didn’t write a song like this, I will write songs that will help girls who have gone through a breakup. Songs that girls can sing in the car screaming.”

“My mother would fly over this song,” Margalit continues, painfully revealing her longing for her mother, Yaffe, who passed away six years ago from an illness. “My mother was everything to me. Since she died, I never stop missing her. In every song I write, I I think what she would have said or thought about him, and it is clear to me that she would have loved this song because she loved happy songs and she would have connected to the energy of the victory that is in this song. The song talks about the fact that I am fine without you and will continue without me. My partner also really liked it.” .

When Margalit talks about her partner, she means the singer and composer Yam Rafaeli, who is four years younger than her. A relationship that began with her separation from her then-partner Talisman (singer and composer Tal Ben Non) with whom she dated for two years.

“We have been a couple for two years and already live together in an apartment in Ramat Polg, a street near my father Roni, a travel agent,” she reveals happily. Besides, it started about four months after breaking up with Talisman.

“In the beginning there really was nothing, we just sat down to write together. But while working together, we got to know each other and feelings started to develop, I kept pretty much denying what was happening between us, saying he was younger than me and there was an age difference and I was afraid they would say I was a cougar.

“After a while I realized that he was doing me good and I was in love, so why not? We also spend a lot of time in the city together. At the beach, in Hansel and Gretel or in bars in the city. I didn’t just write about this city that is my home, in my first song which is an optimistic and fun song. This A city I will never leave.”

Aren’t you worried about the age gap?

“In the beginning yes, a little. But very quickly we both realized that it works out great and age is just a number, that you don’t feel it every day, except sometimes when there are series or songs that I or he don’t know because these are other periods in both of our lives. Other than that, put Very secure in his place and in a relationship with me. We are both in the same profession. c

“M is a singer and he also acts in the show ‘The Band’ and he has female fans who send him messages and pictures and really start with him, even though they know he has a girlfriend and he introduces me with him on Instagram. I’m not worried. Except that he knows there’s a chance I’ll also write a song about him in the future, So he will surely be a good boy forever.”

Farewell songs are not something new in Margalit’s resume. “I Deserve More”, and “Cinema”, were written right after her breakup with her ex, Talisman. A breakup that was widely covered in the gossip sections and drew a reaction from the ex who released the song “Broken House”.

“We went through a really hard breakup after a relationship of two years or so. I wanted him to hurt as much as I hurt and I did it through the songs,” she reveals the heartbreak she experienced. “I’m in a different place today in my life, also musically.”

The change Margalit went through is also evident in the music videos she releases. While in the first song released in 2017, “Mom is always right”, she stars in a bikini on the beach as a waitress and student, today the music videos look different and Margalit is the one who decides how they will look and what she will wear.

“Unlike my first music video, which I wrote at my mother’s request and I also dedicate it to her, here I am more involved in what is happening, in the ideas,” she says. “I don’t have a stylist, because I do the styling myself and I have the regular people who accompany me for years.

“Unlike the first and second clips where I was told what to do, in this clip I decided to go somewhere else, to come up with the idea myself, because it’s a song that should describe a situation of a girls’ night out who are mad at the ex and hate him together. There’s no more fun than that. Because Yoad Mor, the director, is a friend Good thing he went with me with the idea, and he consolidated it into a music video.”

What bothered you in the first clip?

“When we shot the music video, I was naive and inexperienced. I didn’t understand that an artist should be himself, dress and speak the way he feels. I realized that the result is not really me. I am not a Barbie in a swimsuit who needs to dance to be listened to. I presented something to the world that is less me, even though it is A protest song and related to my mother.

“In this song, which unfortunately she didn’t get to hear, I say to her, ‘I wish you could hear this song. You said I would be anything I wanted. And all I want now is to throw myself on some beach in Netanya. With a blanket and two glasses of champagne.’ I have a slip and it has nothing to do with the words and the writing process that I went through with my mother at home when she is ill and I am with her. I remember that I would play my songs to her and she would constantly compliment me on them, but tell me that they are very sad and that I should write a happy song. Thanks to her, this song came out, Because she really wanted a happy song with a mention of the city of Netanya in it.”

So why do you leave that first clip on the networks?

“Because it is part of the songs I released when I was still very young and I see these songs as a kind of tuition I had, both mentally and financially. Besides that it is also cool because there is something authentic about a beginning in these songs.”

Aren’t you afraid to fail?

“Fortunately, I have support from my natural environment, my sisters Mittal and Vared, and also from my father and the people around me. They saw me all my life singing, writing diaries and poems, translating songs from English to Hebrew, and also playing the guitar and keyboards from a very young age. Even then I knew To say that I want to be a singer and a creator. I really drove them crazy with the things I did, so it seems natural to them that I am doing it today.

“I feel like I’m continuing my mother’s work, because she also used to write texts. She had whole notebooks of things she wrote. It’s next to my bed and I’m constantly looking at it, and it’s crossed my mind several times to make an album of her things. I Still can’t believe it’s been six years since she passed away. Sometimes I feel like I haven’t seen her forever and sometimes I get stressed because I don’t remember her smell.

“Unfortunately, despite what everyone says, it doesn’t get better with time. It’s a lie. I miss the connection with her very much, especially the little things. Even sitting with my mother for coffee, talking to her. I admit that since she died, I’ve changed. This is expressed in the fact that I I take things in life much more in proportion.”

Margalit burst onto the scene six years ago with the reality show “The Band Project”, on the children’s channel, following which she was signed along with six other finalists to Hed Artzi as part of the “Startup” band that performed all over the country, and even released an album. From there she became a network star, had a high-profile relationship with the rapper Talisman and wrote songs for herself and others.

“I’m not just a network star, but mainly a singer and songwriter,” she clarifies. “I am gaining more audience thanks to the music and the songs I upload and write. I hope that those who listen to my music will be excited and interested and that it will enter their hearts. That my songs will do people good.”

“I’m working on a show, with all the songs I’ve written so far. It should be released in the coming months and will also include new material. In addition, I’m working on more songs. I dream of writing for all kinds of artists that I grew up with, such as Shlomo Artzi, who is the most amazing artist and writer in my opinion in Israel

“When a writer like him takes your song, it means he feels that the song is good, and it will be wow. I would also be happy to write a song for Aviv Gefen and also for Noa Kirel, especially now that she is embarking on an international career, but it will probably be a song in Hebrew because I have not yet tried to write texts in English.”
