Kollu Idli being prepared in Rasipuram.
In Rasipuram town of Namakkal district, a trader who distributes idly to restaurants at wholesale price is making a new type of idly.
Gopal (42) manufactures idli in Rasipuram and sells it wholesale to shops in the city. Ivar, who is engaged in the production of idli in Rasipuram old bus stand area, has now made Kollu idli and introduced it in the city. He said that he has introduced this Kollu Italian Sugar because it is good for people with blood pressure and now it has received good response from the people. While regular Idli is normally distributed to the shops at Rs.5 per piece, Kollu Idli is sold at a wholesale price of Rs.8.
Gopal also mentioned that while people are giving more importance to health, they will be introducing new types of Italians like Carrot Italian, Ilanir Italian, Wheat Italian, Ragi Italian, Rye Italian. Kollu Idli prepared by Eva is an example that innovation is welcome in anything and has been well received by the people.
