This is a 13.3-inch secondary screen that you can attach to your computer case

The Taiwanese manufacturer ASRock has announced an unusual add-on for some of its motherboards: a kit for mounting a secondary 13.3-inch screen on the side of the computer case. The screen is designed to display various data on computer performance and temperature, although there is no principled objection to using it as a display for anything, including for chat software or social networks.

The screen, which has a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 60 Hz, comes with adhesive strips designed to attach it to a transparent wall in the computer case. The connection is made through the eDP input, which is quite a rare matter – even among ASRock’s own products, there remains a rather limited list of motherboards that support connection to the kit, mainly models from the Z790 series.

At least for a spec that supports the connection, it seems to be a fairly simple setup. An eDP connection is able to transfer to the screen both the information required to display content, and the voltage to activate it. The downside is, of course, that the display may hide the LED lights and other decorative details inside the case – hopefully the gimmick in displaying the computer’s performance on a 13-inch screen will make up for it.

The price of the kit is about 150 dollars in the USA.
