Beijing: As 40,000 people were confirmed to be infected with the corona virus in a single day in China yesterday, the popular protest that broke out demanding the resignation of President Xi Jinping spread to the capital Beijing.
The corona virus started spreading in Wuhan, China in December 2019. From there, the infection spread across the world, paralyzing the countries of the world for the past two years. While all the countries have recovered from the spread of the corona virus and returned to normal, the spread of the corona virus is now increasing again in China. Since then, infection control regulations have been tightened there. A curfew has been imposed across the country and in various provinces.
As a result, it has been reported that 41 crore people have been affected. Of the sectors that are the main contributors to China’s GDP growth, a fifth is said to be at a standstill. A recent fire broke out in an apartment complex in Urumqi, Xinjiang province, where infection prevention measures were taken. Of this, 10 people died in the fire; Nine people were injured.
There was an uproar among the people saying that this loss of life was due to the strict legal schemes of the government. Following this, the people of Urumqi protested against the curfew on the 26th. As a tribute to those who lost their lives in the fire, people took out a candlelight procession. They raised slogans against the ruling Communist Party of China.
Protests spread to Shanghai. Following this, people started fighting in the capital Beijing. People gathered near the Liangmahi River there and chanted slogans calling for President Xi Jinping to step down. The police arrested those who raised slogans against the government. Students from Tsinghua University in Beijing and Nanjing University also participated in the protest. In the past few weeks, protests have intensified in China’s provinces including Guangdong, Changzhou and Lhasa.
Landslides in 2 countries: 21 dead, including a child

Telangana students drowned in American lake
Houston: Two Indian students drowned after bathing in a lake in the US.
Utej Kunta, 24, and Siva Kelligari, 25, both from Telangana, were studying at a university in Missouri, USA. They went to the Lake of the Ozarks there on the 26th. Utej, who first jumped into the lake, went into the deep and floundered. Kelly jumped into the lake to save him. But, unexpectedly, both of them drowned.
Rescuers arrived and found Utej’s body two hours later. Kelly’s body was found the next day. Telangana Minister Rama Rao has condoled the two students who drowned in American lake. He has ordered the authorities to provide all assistance to bring the bodies of the two to Telangana.
