CHENNAI: Due to the Sabarimala season and the series of festivals, there is a shortage of castor oil.
Aain ghee was much needed for making sweets during Diwali festival. Aavin’s stock of ghee was used up to make its own sweets, which was not available to consumers. As Diwali was over, there was no shortage of ghee and butter for a few days. Currently the demand for ghee has increased due to the Sabarimala season.
Festivals, including Christmas and Pongal, follow. Aavin ghee is set to feature in Pongal gift sets at ration shops. For this purpose, the butter ghee in stock is kept in stock in the manufacturing and sales units of Aavin without sending it for sale.
As a result, there has been a sudden shortage of ghee and butter in palaks, leaving people who go to buy them disappointed. It is the wish of the people that the government should take measures to increase milk procurement and ensure availability of ghee without shortage.
