The last round of the group stage in the World Cup opened tonight (Tuesday) with the national teams of Senegal and the Netherlands securing their place in the round of 16. The Dutch beat Qatar 2:0, while Senegal beat Ecuador 2:1.

Senegal took the first lead in the game thanks to a penalty by Ismaila Saar, which was missed in the box a minute before the end of the first half. Ecuador managed to equalize in the 67th minute from a shot by Felix Torres, but 3 minutes later Senegal scored again and regained the lead. The victory raised Senegal to second place in Group A, at the expense of Ecuador, which fell to third place and was eliminated from the tournament.

In the corresponding match, the Dutch team easily defeated Qatar, who had already been eliminated in the previous round. The Oranges went up 1:0 in the 26th minute, after a team attack ended with a great kick by Cody Gakpo to the corner of the Qatari goal. In the 49th minute Holland had already gone up 2:0 after a goal by Frankie de Jong. The Dutch also scored another goal in the 69th minute, but it was disallowed after a VAR review determined that the move that led to the goal started with a handball.
