Luis Suarez refused to apologize to the Ghana national team

The national teams of Uruguay and Ghana will meet tomorrow (Friday) for a charged game with both teams needing a win to secure promotion to the round of 16. This is a reenactment of a dramatic game from 12 years ago – in the 2010 World Cup when the two teams met in the quarter-finals in which Uruguay won at the end of a penalty shoot-out.

The memorable event from that match occurred when Uruguayan star Luis Suarez prevented a goal for Ghana with his hand and saw the red card. The Ghanaians failed to score the penalty and eventually lost the ticket to the next stage. Today, Suarez was asked if he apologizes for the incident.

The striker, who is still considered a key player in the national team despite losing his place in the team, replied without hesitation: “I am not going to apologize to Ghana. I received a red card and they did not score a penalty. I should have apologized if I had injured someone. You must not live in the past.”
