Gold prices have been fluctuating over the past few months. On July 1, the central government hiked the import duty on gold. Subsequently, the price of gold rose dramatically. Since then it has been fluctuating.
Accordingly, gold prices rose again today for the 3rd day in a row. Today, one gram of gold is selling at Rs.5,010 in Chennai. The price of ornamental gold increased by Rs 440 per sawan to sell at Rs 40,080.
As of yesterday evening, per gram rose by Rs 19 to Rs 4,955 and sawan rose by Rs 152 to Rs 39,640.

Similarly, silver prices rose by 70 paise per gram. Today one gram of silver is selling at Rs.70.50. Silver rose by Rs 700 to sell at Rs 70,500 per kg.
