Fontenay-sous-Bois: the fleeing driver rushes at a policeman who shoots with his service weapon

The chase was long and ended in the shooting of a police officer after a refusal to comply in the streets of Fontenay-sous-Bois, during the night from Thursday to Friday. A policeman from Bac Nord de Paris had to use his service weapon while a driver, after stopping, forced his way through. The panicked passenger jumped out of the window and was dragged several meters. He was arrested. As for the driver, he disappeared in the streets of the city, after having abandoned his car.

The case begins around 4:30 a.m. on the Paris ring road when a police patrol sees a Mercedes Class A zigzagging. The officials engage the two-tone and the flashing light but the offender does not care and presses the mushroom. Then begins a chase. The fugitives chain offenses in Vincennes, Montreuil, Noisy-le-Sec and end up arriving in a street in Fontenay-sous-Bois.

Sniffer dogs to try to flush out the driver

There, the powerful sedan stops. The police get out of their vehicle and slowly approach the car. A policeman stands in front, a second moves on the passenger side when the third, passing through the rear, moves towards the driver. The latter then starts the march and puts full throttle. The policeman facing the vehicle then fired once with his service weapon. The bullet sticks in the door. Panicked, the passenger of the car tries to get out of the vehicle, a priori by going through the window, falls on the ground then is dragged by the car for several meters. “He was injured but his vital prognosis is not engaged, details the parquet floor of Créteil before specifying. His injuries are unrelated to the officer’s shooting. He was taken into custody.

As for the car, it was found a few streets away, abandoned. No trace of blood was found which suggests that the driver was not hit by the bullet. Despite the deployment of reinforcements and the presence of several tracker dogs, the driver vanished overnight.

The arrested suspect, aged 25, is well known to the courts for cases of theft and burglary. The IGPN was seized, “as an observer at this stage”, as specified by the Val-de-Marne prosecutor’s office. The departmental service of the judicial police of Val-de-Marne is in charge of the investigation.
