Muvatupuzha – The Vigilance Court has registered an FIR against singer M.G. Sreekumar and ordered an investigation on the complaint that he had built a house near the Bolgatti Palace in Kochi in violation of the Coastal Management Act. The order came on the basis of a complaint filed by Girish Babu, a resident of Kalamasery.

In 2010, Sreekumar bought land in Mulavukad village for 11.50 cents. The house in this place was demolished and a new house was built. In 2017, Girish Babu filed a petition in the vigilance court alleging that the former secretaries and assistant engineer of Mulavukad panchayat did not take action against the illegal construction of the building and that the officials also cooperated in the construction.

The Vigilance Adjudicator said that although the urgent investigation team reported that the case should be registered and an investigation should be conducted, the LSG Tribunal, which deals with violations of local self-government bodies, should consider it.
