Dr. Anirudh Devgan signed a visit to Israel, where he met with senior leaders of the chip industry. “Incorporating women into engineering positions will help reduce the global labor shortage”

The senior executives of the chip industry in Israel, over a hundred managers in global companies and leading start-up companies in Israel, participated in the senior event held by Cadence last week in Tel Aviv.

The guest of honor at the event was Dr. Anirud Devgan, the company’s president and CEO, who came for a several-day visit to Israel, together with Yoon Kim, Deputy CEO, Rebecca Dobson, Cadence EMEA Vice President and Dr. Paul Cunningham, Cadence Senior Vice President . Next to them, the guests of the event were received by Prof. Ziad Hana, Senior Vice President of Global Cadence and Director of the Development Centers in Israel, and Danny Wensch, Director of the Sales Center in Israel.

Dr. Devgan opened the event by saying that despite the global economic slowdown, Cadence has grown nicely in the last two years and he is optimistic about its future growth. According to him, it is its wide deployment across different vertical markets and geographic regions, as well as its strategic necessity for the chip and electronics industry, that gives it financial resilience. He pointed out that Cadence is currently the largest EDA company in the world in terms of revenue, since the global shortage of engineering personnel is reflected in the increasing use of its automation tools. Devgan referred to the company’s innovation momentum and said that in the last three years alone, the company launched 20 new products.

Devgan: “The number of chips used in various products around the world is on the rise and so is the number of transistors in each chip. The main challenge in the worlds of chip design today is manpower because there are not enough chip designers who can handle the design of future chips – and this is where Cadence, with its technological solutions, enters the picture. Our solution is unique and combines artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques. Artificial intelligence and machine learning play a significant role when it comes to automation and increasing the productivity of every engineer. They will make it possible to significantly double the capacity of the chip developers so that they can assign routine tasks to Cadence tools and focus on their areas of expertise.”

Devgan also addressed the company’s development plans. “Cadence has been developing solutions for working in the cloud for more than five years, since more and more engineering operations are moving to the cloud over time. Small companies in the system field rely almost entirely on working in the cloud. In the big companies, there is more work in the hybrid cloud.”

“It is our duty to integrate more women into engineering positions”

As for the importance of Israel for Cadence, Devgan pointed out three main reasons – its being an ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship, the strong customer market that includes many startup companies, and the quality human resources in the field of R&D. Referring to the human capital at Cadence, he said: “Today we have more than 10,000 employees, of which over 6,000 are development personnel, and we are in 19th place in Fortune’s ranking as the best place to work. According to him – “We believe in listening to the employees and not telling them what to do. We had an orderly arrangement of working from home even before the corona virus, which worked excellently and continues today, and we feel the increase in productivity.” Devgan informed those attending the conference that the fund that the company launched this year is working vigorously and contributing to the community all over the world, in three areas – diversity and inclusion, climate and environment, and education.

Devgan ended his visit to Israel at another major event held by the company in Israel – the women’s conference of Cadence Europe. The conference, which lasted three days, took place at the Citadel of David Hotel in Jerusalem with the participation of 180 Cadence employees who came to Israel from all over Europe. Dr. Devgan, who presented the awards, said, among other things: “It is our duty to integrate more women into engineering positions in the industry. Not only do they have great capabilities, their integration will also help reduce the global labor shortage. “
