Doha: Reigning world champions France will face Robert Lewandowski’s Poland in their first knockout match today. France topped Group D and qualified for the pre-quarters, while Poland finished second behind Argentina.
Both the teams reached the last sixteen after losing their last matches. Tunisia overthrew France with an unanswered goal. Poland lost to strong Argentina by two unanswered goals.
With the return of leading players including Kylian Mbappe, France is confident that they can get back to winning ways. Olivier Giroud, Antoine Griezmann, Raphael Varane and others will be in the first eleven today.
Main striker Robert Lewandowski’s lack of form despite reaching the pre-quarters is a concern for Poland. Another problem is the inability of teammates to support Lewandowski. The team could not even make a good progress against Argentina.

Doha: Al Bait Stadium will witness the battle of two top teams today. Despite losing to Holland in the first match in Group A, Senegal has reached the pre-quarters as second place after defeating Qatar and Ecuador.
England started by defeating Iran 6-2 in the first match. Despite a goalless draw against the United States, they beat Wales 3-0 to reach the pre-quarters as Group B champions.
England has come to Qatar with the best young team. Their ability to score goals was evident in the first match. Marcus Rashford, Phil Foden, Bukayo Xhaka, Raheem Sterling, Jack Grealish, Bellingham and others are capable of making quick moves.
Senegal on the other hand are not bad either. Despite Sadio Mane’s absence, they still managed to put up a good performance. The hopes of the African country are in Ismaila Sar, Gueye, Dia, captain and defender Koulibaly, Goalie Mendy and others.
