New Delhi: Talks are going on to buy sophisticated drones from the US to strengthen our military.

Naval Commander Admiral Harikumar said:

In 2020, our navy rented and used two of America’s ‘MQ9B drones’.

Accordingly, it has been decided to purchase these sophisticated drones to increase security in our neighboring countries China, Pakistan borders and the Indian Ocean region.

In the initial phase, talks are underway to buy 30 drones at a cost of Rs 2,400 crore.

Although the three forces are slated to purchase 10 drones each, the number is yet to be finalised.

These sophisticated drones can easily find and shoot down enemy drones. Also, it can deal with various threats and attack stealthily.

At the same time, we have not deviated from our self-reliance policy.

As per the current situation we are procuring weapons from foreign countries, but under the self-reliance plan, we are moving towards the goal of producing our own weapons and advanced logistics by 2047.

This is what he said.
