Thiruvananthapuram: In KSRTC buses, there is no seat for male passengers along with female conductors in the conductor’s seat. Now only women passengers can sit with women conductors. The notification regarding this has started being displayed on KSRTC buses. Female conductors have complained that male passengers sitting on the conductor’s seat have a bad experience. The action is based on this.

In 2020, KSRTC ordered that only women passengers should travel with a female conductor in the conductor’s seat following widespread complaints. But this was not noticed by the travelers. Apart from this, there are also incidents of sitting and traveling including in the conductor’s seat. It is in this situation that KSRTC has decided to publish the notice. KSRTC informed that the action is part of women’s safety.

A seat for two people is allotted to the conductor near the door of the bus. This seat is usually occupied by men during rush hours. At the same time, there is widespread criticism against the action of KSRTC. The criticism is that the action is uncivilized.
