Baiju Noyal, a native of Kochi, filed a petition in the Tiruvalla Magistrate’s Court and Magistrate Reshma Sasidharan registered the case and ordered an investigation.

Saji Cherian had resigned from the post of minister after the controversy intensified. Although the case was taken under the non-bailable section, the police were not ready to summon Saji Cherian for questioning. The complainant said that despite receiving the video of the speech, the police is trying to close the investigation of the case without even preparing to collect scientific evidence.
