Shas Chairman Aryeh Deri today (Monday) abandoned a joint conversation with his future coalition partners Benjamin Netanyahu and Bezalel Smotrich, as reported by the Kaan 11 column.

According to the report, the Shas chairman demanded expropriation of the finance minister’s powers regarding the ministries of the interior and health.

Also, Deri wants to establish a “budget department bypass route”, to manage the current issues of his offices. The chairman of religious Zionism strongly objected, claiming that the budget department vetoes the agreement. Deri, for his part, claimed that it was a violation of his agreement with Netanyahu.

As I recall, last week an agreement was reached between Netanyahu and religious Zionism. According to the agreement, religious Zionism will receive the Ministry of Finance in rotation, the Ministry of Immigration and Absorption and the Ministry of National Missions.

In addition, a minister of religious Zionism will also serve as a minister in the Ministry of Defense in charge of settlements in Judea and Samaria who will act with the coordination and agreement of the Prime Minister. Religious Zionism will also get a deputy minister, the chairman of the Constitution, Law and Justice and Religious Services Committee who will lead the reform of the legal system in the Knesset and the chairman of the Reforms Committee.
