Upsetting documentation: Airport workers were caught abusing passengers’ luggage

by time news

Airport workers in Australia have been recorded throwing, kicking and slamming passengers’ luggage. Some of the luggage was thrown with such disdain that they fell on the sides of the conveyor belt and as a result apparently did not reach their destination at all. The porters were invited to a hearing after which they were fired by the Director General of Land Services following the distribution of the documentation across the Internet.

The management of the Melbourne airport in Australia has launched an “urgent investigation”. This is after a video that began circulating on social media showed three porters “abusing” passengers’ luggage while they are seen joking with each other. A spokesman for Qantas, Australia’s national airline, said the incident was “unacceptable” and indicated that the matter would be dealt with seriously.

The spokesperson also noted that the employees involved have been fired: “Qantas trains and directs all staff members to handle customer belongings with great care. The actions of the former staff members, as seen in the video, are contrary to our level of service. They have been dismissed and an investigation is now underway.”

Brad Moore, chief executive of Swissport Australia, an aviation services company that provides ground and cargo services at airports around the world, told news.com.au he had warned other crew members of “severe disciplinary action to be taken against anyone who behaves inappropriately towards cargo” of their customers. “Our 3,000 staff work very hard to ensure our standards are properly maintained. The behavior of the employees in the video disappointed us all. We will not let a small group spoil our good name.”
