Immigration: in the National Assembly, everyone sticks to their positions

Many expected a “clarification”, the drawing of a “clear line” on the ultra-sensitive subject of immigration. Monday afternoon, during a debate in the National Assembly, the Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, and her government drew up the main lines of their future immigration bill. In accordance with Emmanuel Macron’s desire for a text between “firmness and humanity”, succeeding that of 2018, deemed insufficient, the Prime Minister has rolled out a “balance” strategy for this new law which must be tabled at the beginning of the year 2023.
