With India planning to play more than 20 ODIs before the upcoming ODI World Cup, one player will stand out in the next 10 years, says former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh.
As the Indian team is gearing up for the ODI World Cup to be held in 2023, the team selection will take place soon. BCCI will pay full attention to this. The Men in Blue are scheduled to play more than 20 one-day internationals before heading to the World Cup event on home soil. Along with the veteran players, many youngsters will be on the radar of the undesignated selection committee before the final 15 is named.
Coming to the youngsters, Subman Gill is one of them who has been grabbing attention recently with his impressive performances. Earlier this year, he had some amazing matches on the West Indies tour. and scored his maiden ODI century in Zimbabwe. And while he was on the New Zealand tour, he was not included in the squad with the return of rested senior players.
Yuvraj, who was a key part of winning the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup, has been watching Gill closely. Yuvraj Singh has been coaching and mentoring youngsters like Subman Gill and Abhishek Sharma. In this case, the former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, who has spoken about Shubman Gill, has said that Shubman Gill is a strong contender to be included in the 15-member Indian team.
Talking about Subhman Gill, Yuvraj said, “Subhman is not only performing well, he is consistently executing it. I believe he is a strong contender in the Indian squad for the 2023 World Cup, Gill is a very hard worker and I believe he will excel in the next 10 years,” said Yuvraj.
“I can’t say what will happen in the future. But if I can help the development of sports in the country, I will do it without hesitation. I want to help the development of any sport in this country, not just for cricket,” he said.
Subman Gill has so far played 15 ODIs and scored 687 runs at an average of 57.25.
