TSMC announced last night (Tuesday) the construction of another factory in Arizona, during President Biden’s visit to the site in North Phoenix. The new factory will produce chips with 3 nanometer technology, and the factory under construction will also be upgraded from 5 to 4 nanometers,

TSMC will receive extensive government aid under the Chip Act, so it will also be the nation’s largest private sector investment ever and one of the largest foreign direct investments anywhere in the United States.

TSMC founder Maurice Chang, Micron Technology CEO Sanjay Mehrotra, Apple CEO Tim Cook, and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang will also participate in the event. Apple has announced plans to buy chips to be manufactured at a facility in North Phoenix.
