Supreme Court’s Constitutional Bench has postponed its decision on the case against demonetisation.
A 5-judge bench headed by Supreme Court Justice SA Naseer heard the petitions filed against demonetisation. Senior advocate Jaideep Gupta, who appeared on behalf of the Reserve Bank, argued that the demonetisation scheme was implemented in such a way that it did not affect the people, and as it was an economic policy of the central government, the court could not interfere in it.

Responding to this, the judges adjourned the case saying that we cannot be tied down on the grounds of economic principles, and we will not tie our hands and look at the ways in which it is implemented because it is an economic decision.
