Jakarta:

There is a police station at Astana Anyar in Bandung, the capital of West Java province in Indonesia.

At this police station yesterday morning, the police were engaged in a routine marching exercise. Then a mysterious person entered the police station on a motorcycle.

Shocked to see the man with a knife in his hand, the police surrounded him. Then the man detonated the explosives he had strapped to his body.

The area shook as the bombs exploded with a loud bang. There arose the sugar cane zone. Following the bomb blast, the people at the police station scattered in all directions fearing for their lives.

In this attack, the suicide bomber and 2 police officers were killed on the spot. Also 7 policemen and one civilian were seriously injured.

All 8 of them were immediately rescued by the neighbors and admitted to the hospital. It is feared that the death toll may rise further as the condition of some of them is critical.

No terrorist organization immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. Police are actively investigating the incident.

In 2002, more than 200 people were killed in a series of bomb blasts on the Indonesian island of Bali. Most of them are foreigners.

After the attack, Indonesia has been struggling with terrorist movements for several years.

It is to be remembered that 2 people were killed and more than 20 were seriously injured in a suicide attack on a church during the Palm Sunday celebration in Sulawesi province in March last year.
