The Croatian national team will continue its journey in the 2022 World Cup tomorrow (Friday, 17:00) when it meets the Brazilian national team in a direct battle for the place in the semi-finals. The world runner-up wants to repeat the great campaign from 2018 and pass one of the main factory favorites.
The one who spoke before the game is Luka Modric, the captain of the national team, who ruled out his possible retirement from the national uniform: “I will not retire from the national team. I see no reason to do such a thing. As long as they want me, then it’s only my decision and I’ll play here as long as I can.”
The Real Madrid midfielder continued: “Many people say that I should retire from the national team at my age and concentrate on my team, but I disagree. I feel in good shape, very good even and I still think I can contribute to Croatia. World Cup 2026? Let’s see. Everything is possible”.
The midfielder was chosen as the outstanding player in the previous tournament in Russia, but this time he is having trouble expressing himself in numbers in the current World Cup. Modric did not record a single goal or assist in the meantime, nor did he kick in the penalty shootout against the Japanese national team, but there is no doubt that the player does not show any decline in his level at his team Real Madrid, despite his advanced age.
