the wife of Prince Harry, Meghan Markle continues to stir up the British kingdom. Markle detailed the “jarring” moment when she first met the wife of Prince William – Kate Middleton Shortly after her relationship with Prince Harry was revealed. In the new Netflix documentary “Harry and Meghan,” released Thursday, the Duchess of Sussex said she was surprised by how formal the royal family continued to remain even in a private setting.
Markle said she was unaware of the formality with which royals conduct themselves on a daily basis, and greeted the Prince and Princess of Wales’ faces while barefoot and in ripped jeans. “I was a hugger and I’ve always been a hugger. I didn’t realize it was really jarring for a lot of Brits,” Markle said, referring to her first meeting with Middleton. “I guess I started to understand very quickly that the formality on the outside continues on the inside.”
Merkel said she did not expect the royals to behave behind closed doors the way they do at public events. “There is a way to conduct yourself at official events, and then you close the door and think, ‘Oh, great. We can relax now’. But this formality continues on both sides. And that surprised me,” Merkel admitted. “It’s so funny when I look back now, because now I know so much,” she said, adding: “I’m so glad I didn’t know then, because I could just be authentically myself without so much preparation.”
Elsewhere in the episode released today (Thursday), Markle claimed she had no idea she would have to bow to him Queen Elizabeth II when they meet “My grandmother was the first senior member of the royal family that Meghan met,” Prince Harry explained. “Megan had no idea what it was all about. It was a bit of a shock for her.” Markle also added to Prince Harry’s words: “We were in the car going to the Royal Lodge for lunch, and Harry said, ‘Oh, my grandmother is going to be here!’ We went upstairs and he said, ‘You know how to code, right?’ And I just thought it was a joke.”
