Due to the northeast monsoon in Tamil Nadu, the supply of vegetables is declining and prices are rising. Thus, as a measure to control the rise in prices of all vegetables, steps have been taken to sell vegetables for daily consumption at lower prices than in the open market, as directed by the Chief Minister.
For this purpose TUCS has been procured by Co-operative Societies including Chintamani and arranged for sale through 65 Farm Green Consumer Vegetable Shops including 2 Moving Farm Green Consumer Vegetable Shops operating under Co-operatives in Tamil Nadu.
Measures have been taken to sell all vegetables (especially tomatoes) in Chennai, Coimbatore, Tuticorin, Madurai, Thiruvannamalai, Tiruchirappalli, Thanjavur, Tirunelveli, Tiruppur, Salem, Erode and Vellore districts.
Through these, especially in the open market at present Rs. Tomatoes, which sell for Rs. 110 to Rs. 130, will be sold to the public at a discounted price of Rs. 85 to Rs.
To this end, the first step is to purchase 15 MT of tomatoes per day and gradually increase this. The public is requested to use it.
