Mumbai: Pacer Mohammad Shami, who was ruled out of the Test series against Bangladesh with an injury, has been replaced. Kaiyan pacer Jaydev Unadghat, who shone for Saurashtra in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, will replace Shami against Bangladesh.

India will play a two-Test series against Bangladesh. A rare record awaits the 31-year-old Unadghat if he does not feature in the playing XI in either of the two Tests. Unadghat is also the longest Indian cricket match between two Tests. Unadghat last bowled for India in a Test against South Africa in 2010. Since then, Unadghat has played seven ODIs and 10 T20Is for India, but was never considered for a Test.

The first match of the Test series against Bangladesh is on the 14th. It is not certain whether captain Rohit Sharma, who was injured during the ODI series, will play in the Test series. If Rohit does not play, vice-captain KL Rahul will lead India in the Test. After losing the first two matches of the ODI series, it is imperative for India to win the Test series.
