The police fight against vehicle thieves and property offenders: The quick response of the Jerusalem District Magistrate’s Station officers yesterday (Saturday) led to the arrest of a suspect, a 21-year-old resident of East Jerusalem, in the theft of a vehicle that he allegedly stole shortly before his arrest from a neighborhood in the north of the city. In another case tonight, a 19-year-old resident of Abu Gush was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the theft of vehicles in the city.

The Jerusalem Police stated that “Last night, during an initiative by the officers of the Sheft station of the Jerusalem district, a report was received at the police headquarters about a vehicle stolen from a neighborhood in the north of the city. Following the report, Sheft station officers quickly arrived at the scene and located the vehicle and the suspect who was caught by the police. The officers thwarted “Theft of the vehicle and the suspect, a 21-year-old resident of Mizrah Ha’ir, was arrested and transferred to the court station for questioning. Tonight, the suspect will be brought to the court for a hearing on the extension of his detention.”

In the meantime, a combined activity of the police units led to the arrest last night of a suspect, a 19-year-old resident of Abu Gush, involved in the theft of vehicles in Jerusalem. The suspect was handed over to the police for questioning.

“During an activity against property crimes related to the theft of vehicles in the city of Jerusalem, police officers from the Moriah station and the municipal policing unit, in combination with observers from the control center of the Jerusalem district, acted tonight to monitor, locate and track suspects in these crimes,” the police said. “As part of this activity, early in the morning the police forces were directed to a vehicle suspected of involvement in vehicle theft in the south of the city and this activity led to the arrest of a suspect, a 19-year-old resident of Abu Gush, near the Rosemary intersection. The suspect who was arrested was taken for questioning at the Moriah station and later in the day will be brought before the Criminal Court to discuss his case”.

The police come back and emphasize that “the Israel Police will continue with determined and proactive actions to locate those involved in property crimes and damage to the public’s security and property, while arresting those involved, completing the investigation in their case and bringing those criminals to justice.”
