Lima (Peru): At least 20 people, including four police officers, were reportedly injured in clashes between protesters and police in the southern Peruvian city of Andahuilasan on Saturday.

Peru has been experiencing political instability for the past few years. In 2020 alone, it elected 3 principals in 5 days.

In June 2021, the left-wing Pedro Castillo defeated the right-wing Caico and became the president of Peru.

At this stage, allegations of corruption arose against Castillo. But he denied all the allegations against him as part of a conspiracy to remove him from office. Also resulting in a witch hunt against him and his family from those who failed to accept his election victory. He said he was ready to cooperate with any investigation.

Following this, a few days ago, the country’s television appeared and announced that a state of emergency would be imposed in the country and the parliament would be dissolved. He also announced that he would form a unique government to restore the rule of law and democracy in response to the demands of the people of the country. This caused a great uproar in the country’s politics. Many ministers resigned against this. Members of Parliament rejected the president’s decision. The US urged the president to reverse his decision.

In this situation, the parliament of the country, which is controlled by the opposition party, met and passed a resolution against him on Wednesday. 101 votes were in favor of the resolution, 6 were against, and only 10 people abstained.

Castillo then lost his presidency. Castillo was arrested within minutes of losing his presidency. Castillo is in seven-day judicial custody as per the Supreme Court order.

After Castillo’s ouster, Peru’s Vice President Tina Polwarte, a 60-year-old lawyer, became president.

Later, he called for a political truce to deal with the current crisis in the country. All I ask is a place. He said that time should be given to save the country.

The police and armed forces of the country jointly said that they respect the order of the political system.

In this case, people are protesting in many cities of the country in support of former President Pedro Castillo.

Meanwhile, the protestors were “requested not to engage in violence during their protests.”

In this case, people participated in protests in Antahuelas last Friday.

Clashes broke out between the protestors and the police during the protest. 20 people including 4 policemen were injured. All the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital. The police have arrested the protestors involved in the conflict. Two police officers who were held captive by the protesters have now been released, the National Police said.

The cause of Saturday’s protests is still unclear, but the country’s interior ministry said people were protesting in several cities across the country in support of former president Pedro Castillo, who was ousted earlier this week.
