First Test Cricket – Rohit Sharma withdraws

Bangladesh – Indian team captain Rohit Sharma has withdrawn from the first Test cricket match between Indian teams.

In a statement issued by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, Indian captain Rohit Sharma visited a specialist doctor in Mumbai due to an injury to his left thumb during the 2nd ODI against Bangladesh. The BCCI Medical Committee will decide on Rohit Sharma’s selection for the 2nd and final Test later. The Indian selectors have announced Abhimanyu Iswaran as his replacement for the first Test.

Fast bowler Mohammed Shami and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja are yet to fully recover from shoulder and knee injuries that have ruled them out of the Test series. Shami and Jadeja have been replaced by Navdeep Saini and Saurabh Kumar. It has been reported that fast bowler Jaidev Unadgat has also been selected in the Indian team for the Test series.

Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Navdeep Saini, Saurabh Kumar, Jaidev Unathkat are featured.
