Israel towards a decision regarding Alexander’s court

Israel is moving towards a decision regarding the Alexander Yard, against the background of the Russian demand to accept ownership of the complex. This was published today (Sunday) in the evening news here at 11. A law firm operating on behalf of the state has contacted all the relevant parties in recent months, to hear their claims regarding the rights to the ownership of the land in the complex.

In 2020, Netanyahu signed a declaration stating that the compound is a holy place. Therefore, the decision on its owner will be the responsibility of the political level. Until now, despite the appointment of a ministerial committee on the issue and great pressure from Russia, no decision has been made. Significant progress has now been made in clarifying the issue, with the relevant authorities being contacted. They were required to respond to the request until the last few days.

The purpose of the appeal is to make a decision regarding the real estate dispute surrounding the Alexander complex. A dispute that has become a significant political battle. An Israeli source clarified that the decision on the issue is expected in the next government – and not in the current one.

The person responsible for the holy places in the Middle East on behalf of Russia, former Prime Minister Sergey Stepshin, said several times this year that Russia expects the complex to be transferred to its possession. He expressed himself particularly harshly about seven months ago when he said: “For five years we worked hard on the issue. We almost reached a solution, but then the situation broke out in Ukraine. And Israel, like Israel, behaved as they are used to – ‘we will give to them and us, we will give to these also to those’. The so-called The Israelis played ping pong.”
