US President Joe Biden signed into law on December 13th the historic same-sex marriage, providing federal protections for interracial marriages.
Same-sex relationships have been legalized and recognized by countries of the world, mainly Western countries, for some years. The perception that others understand and accept the LGBTQ+ community as they are is now widely felt.
India itself has seen some same-sex marriages recently. The government has also said that this will be done according to law. As a result, the US has now legally recognized it.

Joe Biden took a public stance from his time as vice president before taking office as prime minister. Notably, even before the 2015 court ruling, he supported same-sex unions to legalize such marriages across the country.
“America is taking a major step toward equality, for the freedom and justice of all people, which has been enacted,” he said Tuesday afternoon at a ceremony to ratify the same-sex marriage law.
The US Supreme Court now has a majority of conservative-leaning justices. They overturned a ruling on abortion rights last June. Even now, members of the left and right have come together to block measures to restrict same-sex marriage rights.

But Joe Biden, who was firm in his position, said that the government should not interfere with people’s personal freedom and right to choose their lifestyle and life partner. Joe Biden said that would not be right.
Congressional leaders, including Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, also expressed their support for Biden. While Democrats hold majorities in both houses of Congress, they were eager to implement the legislation during the year-end session.
Democrats worry that Republicans will control Congress in January next year, when they could reverse the rights for same-sex couples they just passed. However, this law has now come into force.
