The landowners and people’s representatives today (14) handed over a letter to the Mullaitivu District Government President to protest against the attempt to measure the public land where the Gotabaya Naval Camp is located in the Vattuwagal area of Mullaitivu District for permanent acquisition of land for the naval base.
This letter was handed over to Mullaitivu District Government President K. Kanakeswaran (Administration) and Additional District Government President S. Gunabalan (Land).
Measurement by Colombo authorities
It is reported that people protesting in front of Vattuwagal Naval Camp since this morning defied their protest and took government officials of Mullaitivu district in a naval vehicle and the officials of the land surveying department came from Colombo and started the land surveying work.
