Zelensky proposed a “Christmas truce”: this was the Kremlin’s answer

by time news

While the conflict between Russia and Ukraine is far from over, and it seems that negotiations are not going to take place in the near future, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky this week called on Russia to start withdrawing, and asked for a “Christmas ceasefire”, as a first step towards a peace agreement after almost 10 months of war.

In response, when the Kremlin spokesman was asked about the cease-fire proposal in question, he replied that “no such proposals have been received from anyone. The issue is not on the agenda.”

Ukrainian forces shot down 13 Iranian drones launched by Russia on Wednesday, local officials reported, as Russia launched its first major attack on the capital Kyiv in weeks. Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko said explosions rocked the Shevtsi district ‘Nakivski, the city’s center, and that two administrative buildings were damaged.

“I was in the kitchen, I heard everything. I heard the buzzing of the ‘mopeds’ (a nickname for the Iranian drones whose engines make a loud buzzing sound) and I ran to the bathroom,” said Yana, 39, who was getting ready for work. “I want all of this to end, so that Putin dies . These are my only feelings,” she added. According to local reports, some windows of nearby residential buildings were shattered. Parts of the roof were strewn in the snow along with other debris. However, no one was said to have been injured.
