Disturbances in Mea Shearim: damage was caused to a bus and a police car

Clashes broke out tonight, between Wednesday and Thursday, between police forces and rioters in the Mea Shearim neighborhood, during an attempt to rescue a bus that got into the neighborhood and was attacked by residents. A block was thrown on Shbati Israel Street which hit the roof of a police car and caused tin damage and shattered the car’s windshield.

“During the last few hours, the police forces acted to deal with two centers of disorder in the center of Jerusalem,” reports the Jerusalem Police. “Dozens of rioters blocked roads, set trash cans on fire, and damaged vehicles. In one case, a bus entering the Mea Shearim neighborhood was damaged while its tires were punctured and the vehicle’s windows were smashed. Police forces who were called to the scene, rescued the bus from the scene while throwing stones and throwing objects at them. In another case, On nearby Shbati Israel Street, a block was thrown that hit the roof of a police car and caused tin damage and shattered the car’s windshield (with no injuries).

“At this time, the police forces are continuing their activities to maintain public order in the area and searches for the suspects in the act,” the police report further.
