Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has withdrawn from his promise to bear 25 percent of the cost of land required for the National Highway. The Union Transport Minister said that the construction of one kilometer of national highway in Kerala will cost Rs 100 crore. Gadkari blames the Chief Minister who had promised to bear 25 percent of the cost of land acquisition but backed out of it.
Minister of State for Civil Aviation VK Singh said that Kerala had been asked to level the land to build a safe zone on both sides of the runway at Karipur, but no response had been received. Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnam also said in Parliament that Silver Line has been given in-principle permission and no high-speed rail corridor has been allotted to the state.
