Konstantin Chudovsky: “I don’t like to conduct from notes”

by time news

Konstantin Chudovsky is the chief conductor of the State Kremlin Orchestra created in 2019. For three years now, Chudovsky has also been the chief conductor of the Ural Opera Ballet Theatre. The repertoire of the creative teams he directs includes not only operatic blockbusters, but also little-known masterpieces of Russian music. This is his approach – to open new works for listeners.

Chudovsky enters the stage without a score and knows by heart all the works he performs. And this is not a whim or bravado, but, according to him, a necessary condition for successful performance and impeccable sound of the orchestra. The concept of creative freedom for Chudovsky is closely connected with phenomenal memory and psychological sensitivity.
