Kuala Lumpur: Two people died in a landslide in the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. More than fifty people are missing. The landslide occurred at a campsite on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur on Friday morning. Search and rescue officials are continuing rescue operations, Reuters reported.

The landslide occurred at 3 a.m. local time in the state of Selangor, the capital of which is Kuala Lumpur. The state Fire and Rescue Department said in a statement that the farmhouse, which provides camping facilities on the side of the road, was completely destroyed in the landslide.

Officials said that 79 people were trapped in the landslide and 23 people were rescued. Two people died. Three people were injured and 51 people were reported missing. Selangor Fire and Rescue Department chief Norasam Khamis said the landslide fell from a height of about 30 meters (98 feet) and covered an area of ​​about one acre (0.4 hectare).

The campsite is located on an organic farm near Genting Highlands Hill Resort, a popular tourist destination with theme parks and a casino in Malaysia. There are three camping sites at the farmhouse, where people can bring their own tents and equipment or rent them from the farm.
